Patrick Vellner is the currently the second fittest CrossFit athlete in the world and a professional chiropractor. He recently started a new series on his YouTube channel called ‘Rehab Rules!’. In his first episode he goes over muscle strains, something most of us will experience in our lives and especially as we push ourselves in the gym. But there are healthy ways to recover quickly and effectively so we can get back to training.

Pat’s four steps to effective muscle strain rehab are:

1) Progress from static to dynamic movement

2) Range of motion, then strength

3) Rehab, recover, repeat!

4) Be patient

As a CrossFit Games athlete, Pat is no stranger to injury and recovery. He explains how he tore is adductor and the process he went through to get back to building strength and getting to the 2021 season. He might know a thing or two seeing as he went on to place second at the 2021 Nobull CrossFit Games.

Not all of us are going to go to the CrossFit Games, but injuries happen to us as we push our bodies. Muscle strains are fairly common, and frustrating to deal with especially when all we want to do is get in the gym. At CrossFit Clintonville we’re lucky to be able to partner with Affiliate Physical Therapy here in Columbus, well actually, right next door!
